Celebrating
NATIONAL
DOCTORS' DAY
MARCH 30
This year's theme, "Honoring the Calling" recognizes the profound commitment of doctors to their profession and communities. It also underscores the importance of caring for physicians' well-being and preserving the human connection in medicine as technology continues to evolve.
National Doctors' Day is an opportunity to uplift the healers who tirelessly care for us!
Whether through heartfelt messages, meaningful gestures, or resources that address burnout, mental health, and financial well-being, let's celebrate and support the physicians who give so much.
"The good physician treats the disease; the great physician treats the patient who has the disease."

Addictive Disorders We Treat

Alcohol Addiction

Alcohol addiction is one of the most common addictions in the United States, with an estimated 16.6 million people suffering from the disease. Alcohol addiction occurs when regular, excessive drinking causes harm or distress.

Types of problematic drinking include:
Alcohol Use Disorder

Alcohol dependency and abuse are indicators of alcohol use disorder, which can be mild, moderate, or severe.

Binge Drinking

This occurs when an individual consumes a high amount of alcohol in a single day—between four and five drinks.

Heavy Drinking

When an individual consumes five or more drinks on five different occasions in a single month, it is considered heavy drinking.

Opioid Use Disorder

Opioid use disorder is a physical and psychological reliance on opioids, which are substances found in certain prescription pain medications and illegal drugs like heroin. The U.S. is currently in the midst of an opioid overdose epidemic.

Common opioids include:
Heroin

Pain Medications

These can include drugs such as Oxycodone, Percocet, and Fentanyl that are either prescribed or obtained illegally.

Prescription Drug Addiction

Prescription drugs are approved medications used to treat symptoms of diseases and other medical conditions. Even when used as prescribed, they can cause physical changes that can lead to addiction. When they are used in any way other than what is prescribed by a doctor, the likelihood of prescription drug addiction drastically increases.

Common prescription drugs that can lead to addiction include:
Opioids

Oxycodone and hydrocodone are two of the most common prescription opioids.

Benzodiazepines

Xanax and Valium are examples of benzodiazepines that can lead to addiction.

Amphetamines

Addiction can result from amphetamines, such as Methamphetamine, Adderall and Ritalin.

Sedatives and Muscle Relaxers

Ambien and Lunesta are designed for relaxation and sleep purposes, but they can become addictive.

Other Substance Use Disorders

When the abuse of drugs or alcohol continues, even when significant problems related to their use have developed, this indicates an addiction.

Other common addictive substances include:
Cannabis
Crack/Cocaine
Inhalants
Synthetics (such as Spice)

Signs of Dependence

In addition to spending much of your time getting, using, and recovering from drugs, there are key signs that indicate drug dependence.

Tolerance

When you develop a tolerance of a drug, you begin to need increased amounts to get the same effects.

Withdrawal Symptoms

Withdrawal symptoms can happen if you decrease or stop using the drug, making it difficult to stop.

Continued Use

When you fall into addiction, you continue to use the drug even though you are aware of the physical, psychological, familial, or social problems that are caused by your ongoing drug abuse.

Consequences

Addiction affects every part of your life, leading to serious physical health issues, emotional distress, social withdrawal, damaged relationships, and problems at work or school.

Inpatient and Outpatient Addiction Treatment

We offer inpatient, partial hospitalization program (PHP), and intensive outpatient program (IOP) services for addiction treatment. We understand that our clients need varying levels of care, and we want to connect you with the right kind for you.

The SUD Program

Our Substance Use Disorder (SUD) program offers recovery with both an abstinence-based curriculum as well as one based on harm reduction. We use a variety of recovery approaches and support models including 12-step and SMART Recovery in our eight-week curriculum that centers around connecting you with a sober lifestyle.

The treatment team will walk you through every step of detoxing, therapy, meetings, and the gradual transition into your next phase of life. In this program, we also include lunch and a snack, as well as providing transportation opportunities for people in designated zip codes.

Dual diagnosis options are also available for those battling addiction and a mental health disorder at the same time, with comprehensive care that addresses both concerns.
