Alvarado Parkway Institute (API) La Mesa Inpatient Psychiatric Hospital

Inpatient Behavioral Health Center La Mesa

Inpatient Services

Our inpatient psychiatric hospital provides 24/7 support for those facing severe mental health and addiction struggles. Our dedicated team helps address urgent mental health crises and addiction issues, guiding clients through the healing process and the transition to their next stage of treatment. We want every client to understand that they matter. We customize treatment based on each client’s unique needs and circumstances, meeting them where they are and allowing them to take things at their own pace. Our goal is to help clients work through challenges, develop coping skills, and improve their overall quality of life. We believe in cultivating each person’s true potential, and we will be here to support you through each step of your recovery journey.

Our Approach to Treatment

Our programs treat severe mental health conditions, substance use disorders, or co-occurring disorders. The goal of treatment is lasting mental and physical wellness, which is why we teach clients strategies that they can use long after treatment has ended. Care begins with an assessment and is followed by a personalized plan. These plans can include stress management techniques, education, medication management, evidence-based therapy, coping skills, and more. We want clients to find the tools that will help them find healing and reach a place of thriving when they transition back to everyday life. While some of our programs focus mainly on mental health treatment, our Substance Use Disorder (SUD) program addresses addiction issues, focusing on abstinence and recovery. Clients go through a safe detoxification process, with guidance from empathetic professionals through every step.

Inpatient Hospitalization Treatment

Inpatient services at Alvarado Parkway Institute consist of highly structured care for adults 18 years of age or older with significant risk factors and severe symptoms. Our team provides around-the-clock support and individualized care plans that include rapid stabilization, mental illness education, recommended next steps, and discharge planning.

While circumstances can vary from person to person, some common reasons for inpatient behavioral health treatment include the need to be monitored for detox or safety purposes, the risk of suicide or self-harm, an inability to care for oneself due to symptoms of a mental illness or addiction, out-of-control thoughts or feelings, or significant deterioration in functioning.

This level of treatment is specifically designed for those who pose a risk to themselves or others and require professional support in order to reach a state of safety. Facing severe mental health or addiction issues such as these can be frightening, and our compassionate team of professionals will guide clients every step of the way.

Inpatient psychiatric hospital treatment can include detoxification, mental health treatment, or a combination of these two services. Each care plan will be led by a psychiatrist and supported by a team of dedicated clinicians with the goal of a successful recovery in a safe, controlled environment.

Because treatment is personalized to each client’s needs, length of stay can vary. However, the average length of stay for inpatient treatment is 4-7 days. Most clients will share a room, experiencing comfortable accommodations and the opportunity to connect with others on similar healing journeys.

Every client receives a discharge plan to help them continue to build on what they have learned during their time at our inpatient facility. This plan can include further residential placement and continuation of treatment, partial hospitalization services, or outpatient service options to help with the transition back to everyday life.

“Thank you for being proactive with my care, always finding me answers, and being in support of whatever comes up for me. In group, I loved your direction and the challenges that you confronted with us with kindness and empathy. You have been very valuable and helpful to my healing process. Keep smiling and following your intuition with clients.” – API client
