Behavioral Health Center El Cajon
Outpatient Services- Intensive Outpatient Services (IOP) and
Partial Hospitalization Program Services (PHP)
At Alvarado Parkway Institute El Cajon, we want you to know that you matter. Whether you are facing mental health issues or battling an addiction, our personalized services can help you through each step of recovery. At this location, we have two options for clients who do not require the higher structure of inpatient treatment: intensive outpatient services and partial hospitalization services. Wherever you may be on the path toward maximizing your full potential, we are here to guide you toward the life you deserve.
Customized Treatment for Mental Health and Addiction
We customize treatment based on each person’s symptoms, and our care is designed to help with mental health issues, addiction, and co-occurring disorders. After developing a plan to address clients’ needs, we guide them through evidence-based treatment methods, including therapy, stress management, medication monitoring, education, coping skills, and more.
At our behavioral health center in El Cajon, we offer a Substance Use Disorder (SUD) program to support abstinence and recovery, taking clients safely through detox. We also offer programs to help with mental health conditions. The program includes lunch and a snack, and transportation is available for those in designated zip codes.
Levels of Care
Outpatient services are designed for individuals who would benefit from psychological, medical, or educational services but require less intensive support for mental health conditions or addiction issues. Clients can return to their own homes when treatment ends.
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
At our El Cajon location, our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) services are best suited for those with solid support systems, mild to moderate symptoms, and the ability to function independently.
Clients in this program can apply their treatment in their everyday life, using learned coping skills to face challenges head-on.
IOP is available for up to three days a week, and services are offered for three hours at a time.
Clients can choose between the morning and afternoon tracks depending on what is best for their schedules.
Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
Partial hospitalization program (PHP) services are the highest and most intensive type of outpatient services that we offer for individuals facing addiction and mental health conditions. We understand how difficult everyday life can become when suffering from these issues, and these services allow clients to experience a greater sense of freedom while still benefiting from the daytime structure and support of partial hospitalization.
These services are designed for those who are in distress but do not require 24/7 monitoring. Often, PHP services are the next step after inpatient care, as individuals commonly require a step-down program and continued support as they slowly transition back to normal life.
Our PHP treatment options are similar to inpatient treatment, with therapy, medication management, coping skills training, and more evidence-based treatment options. These tools can help clients find balance in their lives one step at a time.
PHP services are available five days a week from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Clients return home after treatment is over for the day and can practice their skills in their own homes surrounded by their friends and family.
Our El Cajon location also offers a Rising Above Disabilities Program (RAD), which is focused on helping others maximize their potential while safeguarding their rights and safety through evidence-based care. Individuals in this program can gain insights into their conditions and learn ways to improve functional and cognitive abilities.
Other Locations and Services
IOP and PHP services are available at our San Diego location, and IOP, PHP, and inpatient services are available at our La Mesa Centers.
At one of our La Mesa locations, we offer inpatient services for those with significant risk factors and intense symptoms. Inpatient treatment provides around-the-clock support and highly structured care, focusing on rapid stabilization, next steps of treatment, discharge planning, and more.
“Thank you for giving me a voice during my treatment when I couldn’t. I deeply appreciate your proactiveness, as you truly gave me the opportunity to advocate for myself when I struggled to speak to you on my own. I wish you all the best and again, thank you from the bottom of my heart.” -API client
