Connecting with the Community: API’s El Cajon Open House

Community connections are important to Alvarado Parkway Institute (API), and a recent open house at our El Cajon location provided opportunities to connect with organizations also serving the area with behavioral healthcare services.

In addition to functioning as a forum for professional connections, the open house, held Feb. 26, allowed guests to learn about our services, meet members of our El Cajon staff, tour our facility, and enjoy refreshments. The event was hosted by API’s El Cajon Outpatient Services.

“There are so many wonderful community organizations in El Cajon, La Mesa, and San Diego all wanting the same thing – to help those in need,” said Craig Diamond, API Chief Operating Officer. “These types of events are an essential way for us to come together and learn how we can best partner to help make the biggest difference in the lives of our clients.”

Connections

During the event, we were pleased to talk with multiple representatives of professional service providers, establishing community connections that help open the way for future dialogue and potential partnerships.

Those who attended the open house represented organizations offering crisis support, housing, residential treatment, senior healthcare, and telecare. Other sectors of El Cajon’s behavioral health services represented at the open house included nonprofit health centers, inpatient and outpatient services, and case management.

Our Services

At the open house, API personnel were positioned in different areas of the El Cajon center to share various aspects of our intensive outpatient program (IOP).

Outpatient care available at our El Cajon location includes intensive, personalized treatment for mental health disorders and dual diagnosis, a co-occurring condition in which both a mental health disorder and substance addiction are experienced at the same time.

Available to individuals who can function independently and who could benefit from the structure and support of outpatient services, our IOP services are offered up to three days per week,  three hours per day.

In addition to offering IOP care in El Cajon, we provide intensive outpatient services at our San Diego and La Mesa locations.

Behavioral healthcare treatment from API is offered according to intensity levels best aligned with the care individuals require, with both partial hospitalization program (PHP) treatment and inpatient psychiatric hospitalization available in La Mesa.

Our outpatient and inpatient treatments are evidence-based and personalized to serve individual clients.

At the Open House

In addition to tours of the facility and opportunities to meet with staff members, the open house included refreshments and an enter-to-win event in which attendees had three chances to throw a football into a target. Those who threw a ball into the target were entered to win Apple AirPods.

Serving the El Cajon Community

API is proud to be a member of the El Cajon community and appreciates association with other organizations in the area. We strive to provide professional behavioral health services in support of individuals, their families, and friends.
