We value our partnerships with community healthcare providers and welcome referrals from primary care physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, and other professionals.

Your Community Continuum of Care Partner

If you have a patient you feel needs inpatient stabilization or ongoing outpatient support, our goal is to be your partner to create an effective continuum of care.

We strive to partner with you to offer inpatient and outpatient mental healthcare services while ensuring you are informed every step of the way. Our goal is to make the referral process as straightforward and responsive as possible while supporting communication, treatment plan alignment, and continuity of care.

Please be assured that we respect the privacy of every referred individual and handle protected health information in accordance with HIPAA and applicable privacy regulations.

Our intake department is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to assist with referrals, screenings, and questions about our programs and services. Screenings are conducted by our clinical team to help determine which level of care would benefit referred individuals and whether API can provide appropriate treatment.

Identifying the Right Level of Care

If our clinical team determines that API can provide appropriate treatment for an individual, arrangements will be made for treatment to begin. We can also help identify the next steps for individuals who may be better served by another provider.

Treatment for Substance Addiction and Mental Illness

 

API offers adults individualized, evidence-based healthcare treatment for substance addiction and serious mental illness. API also offers dual diagnosis care. 

We provide treatment for addiction to alcohol, prescription drugs, cannabis, crack/cocaine, inhalants, and synthetics. We also offer treatment for opioid use disorder. Our services include detoxification, intensive group therapy, individual psychotherapy, family therapy, and aftercare support.

Our mental health treatment is offered for anxiety, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, depression, dissociative disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), psychosis, and schizophrenia.

For more than four decades, Alvarado Parkway Institute (API) has provided specialized behavioral health treatment and support. At our La Mesa location, we provide inpatient psychiatric hospital care, partial hospitalization program (PHP), and intensive outpatient program (IOP) care. Services from our La Mesa location include an IOP evening program. Our San Diego and El Cajon locations offer daytime IOP care.
