Alvarado Parkway Institute Strongly Condemns Hate Speech and Misuse of Its Name in Recent Distributing Effort
SAN DIEGO, CA — September 29, 2026 — Alvarado Parkway Institute Behavioral Health System issued a statement today strongly condemning hate speech and clarifying its complete lack of affiliation with unauthorized flyers recently distributed in San Diego’s East Village community.
On Monday, September 28, 2026, hospital leadership was made aware that unknown individual(s) placed flyers on vehicles parked in the East Village neighborhood. The flyers contained offensive and harmful rhetoric specifically targeting Mexican Americans and Mexican immigrants, directing them to seek treatment at Alvarado Parkway Institute under the false pretense of alleged psychiatric illness.
“We are deeply disturbed by the offensive messages contained in these flyers and the malicious unauthorized use of our hospital’s name,” said Patrick Ziemer, Chief Executive Officer “The hateful statements being circulated do not in any way reflect our beliefs, values, or mission. We stand in solidarity with our Mexican American and immigrant communities, as well as all individuals and families we serve across San Diego County.”
