in Addiction, Blog, Mental Health, Treatment

Whether you have work, school, family obligations, or a combination of these, daytime commitments can take up the majority of your time. Unfortunately, people with packed schedules often struggle to seek the mental health and/or addiction support they need due to their busy days.

At Alvarado Parkway Institute (API), we are happy to work with clients’ schedules. We understand that many people are busy during the day, which is why we created the La Mesa evening Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Keep reading to explore the details of this program and discover if it would fit your recovery needs well.

About Our IOP Evening Program

Our IOP Evening Program in La Mesa is designed with you in mind. This structured care program offers action-oriented support in a time-limited setting so you can get right back to your schedule afterward.

We meet you where you are and apply a harm-reduction approach to recovery. Our team is here to help with your unique needs so you can maximize your potential and apply the things you learn in therapy to your everyday life.

Clients also receive a light evening meal, which can be especially helpful for those coming directly from another commitment.

Mental Health Treatment Modalities

We offer educational, medical, and psychological treatments at API. Clients can benefit from the following mental health services:

  • Advanced Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): CBT is a form of psychotherapy that helps you understand your thoughts and behaviors and practice skills to better manage them.
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): With ACT, the aim is to accept difficult feelings and make positive changes in the midst of them.
  • Experiential process groups: Group therapy is a way to share what’s on your mind in a safe space and listen to other people’s stories as well.
  • Mindfulness-based stress reduction: Mindfulness is one method for combating stress, and it helps you stay present and reach a calmer mindset.
  • Medication management with a psychiatrist: Our psychiatrists can collaborate with you on the right medication for your mental health.

Addiction Recovery Support

API also provides addiction recovery support in our La Mesa night program.

Addiction treatment with us focuses on relapse prevention, medication management, and outreach support. The end goal is for clients to access the tools they need for ongoing sobriety after they have completed their program.

For those facing mental health and addiction support, dual diagnosis care is available. In this case, we can address both concerns at the same time throughout comprehensive treatment.

Flexible Care

We believe that your mental and physical health shouldn’t be sidelined because of your schedule. Our program comes with a flexible structure so we can provide the best support possible that makes sense with your day-to-day life.

It is designed as a 12-week module and takes place from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Through just nine hours a week of intentional work, clients can strive for lasting relief from addiction and/or mental health struggles.
